If you’re a member of the Tidong Community in Sandakan Sabah Malaysia, and you wish to get married, you better have a strong bladder and the willpower of an elite commando.
For the first three days of your marriage life, the Tidong custom forbids you and your wife from going to the toilet. No urinating. No shitting. No bathing.
And you’ll be confined to your house and watched to ensure you pass this strange rite. You and your wife will be given very little water and food to survive the three days.
If you fail this rite, one or more of the following great misfortunes may fall on you.
And the death of your offspring at a young age.
